Change of Plans…

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Last week I announced that I was going on a sabbatical.  There’s been a change of plans.  My wife and I have spent much time in prayer and have come to the conclusion that our time of ministry at my current church has drawn to a close.  March 30th will be my last Sunday at Hanover Pentecostal Church, the church I have pastored for the last 12 years.  We have a lot of great memories from our time with HPC and it was a really difficult decision to make – but we want to be obedient to how God is leading us.

If you could keep Kerryanne and me in your prayers we’d appreciate it.  I still don’t know what I’m doing employment wise but am trusting that the right doors will open in God’s timing.

What does this mean for UnashamedSermons.com?  Well, I’m still planning on maintaining and keep this site running.  Of course after March 30th, the frequency of new sermon postings to the site will diminish dramatically, but depending on where I’m at I hope to continue posting new illustrations/articles as time permits.

Things will be quiet around here…

Just a heads up that there will be few new posts (and no new sermons) here on UnashamedSermons until after the first week of January. My church is doing a lot of special seasonal services and I’m not speaking during this services.

I came across this great blog post by Mark Batterson today that contains some great thoughts about presentation of sermons series.? Mark talks about the importance of not only what is said but also how it is said.

Some Easter Resources

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year.? The onset of spring, the warmer climate, and of course the reminder of what it is to be a Christian.? Truly, if it weren’t for Christ’s resurrection from the grave there would be nothing for Christians’ to believe in!? His resurrection gives us hope!

I thought I’d give a couple links to Easter Resources on the site to save time on searching for those of you coming here for that reason:

A list of all the Easter related sermons (including Good Friday)

Carry the Wood“? a Good Friday message I shared a few years ago with a powerful object lesson.? I refer to the object lesson in this article (found near the end of the article).

Aliens in a strange land…

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Taken from a second-century Christian document called The Epistle of Mathetes To Diognetus:

The Christians are distinguished from other men neither by country, nor language, nor the customs which they observe…They dwell in their own countries, but simply as sojourners. AS citizens, they share in all things with others, and yet endure all things as if foreigners. Every foreign land is to them as their native country, and every land of their birth as a land of strangers. They marry, as do all [others]; they beget children; but they do not destroy their offspring.? (more…)
