Letdowns, Setbacks, Fizzles and Failures
In his biography of Winston Churchill, William Manchester tells of a manservant who once decided to stand up to Churchill, who was notoriously hard to work for. The men got into a blazing row, and when it was over, Churchill, his lower lip jutting, said, “You were very rude to me, you know.” The servant, still seething, replied, “Yes, but you were rude too.” Churchill grumbled, “Yes, but I am a great man.”
The servant later said, “There was no answer to that. He knew, as I and the rest of the world knew, that he was right.”

Pressure Can be Good
Today is Father?s Day. What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the gift and role of Christian fathers/husbands and men! At the end of this service, we will be honoring each man that is here today by presenting them with a special gift (like the one I hold in my hand). This gift is born out of the theme for the message today which is, “Pressure can be Good!”
I would like us to realize that pressure isn?t all bad! In fact, it can be a wonderful way to bring us closer to the Lord. It?s my desire that every man in this place will be encouraged to grow and increase in his relationship with God and faithfulness in his various roles as a father/husband and Christian. Propelling Passion
I believe we are living in a time right now where people are spiritually hungry and are looking for something that will answer their deepest questions and meet their direst needs. It is a tremendous opportunity for those of us who have faith in Jesus Christ to share His message and His gospel and His life with those around us. And yet, in this time of spiritual hunger are we really seeing an impact being made? I don?t think we are. In fact I know we?re not. Why? Because of a lack of passion. And I see this lack. I?ve felt this lack in my own life. And I?ve heard about this lack in the lives of some of you as well. Yes, there is a need for passion in our midst ? the kind of passion that will stir the embers of God?s word in our hearts and raise up a church that is on fire for him. A church that is not satisfied with staying on the passionless treadmill of mediocrity but a church that is ready to be propelled by passion into the flames of Holy Spirit revival! Continue reading
