Jabez knew better than to pray for God’s blessings, for the Lord to increase his territory, and for God’s hand to be on him and then to leave it there. Jabez wanted to be protected and delivered from the onslaught of evil. Evil is a stark and dreaded reality in this world as we have seen so prominently in the last few weeks. But we can no God’s protection in our lives.

Little did I know how God was preparing this message for this particular horrific week in the US. Truly it seems as if the boundary of territory, protection, security, peace and freedom has been breached in the US. But the prayer of Jabez is a prayer that leads to the kind of security, the kind of life that God wants all of us to have when HE sets the boundaries of our lives - NOT us!
